Meet Clare

My story

My nineteen years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Alberta includes supporting the Radiation Oncologists at the outpatient department at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the Radiology department at the Cross Cancer Institute. I understand the pathophysiology, disease progression, complications, risks, and symptom management of various Cancers and chronic diseases. I am passionate about promoting optimal health and disease prevention, providing education, strategies, and interventions to improve day-to-day functioning and quality of life.

During the public health crisis of Covid-19 in 2020 I lost a parent and a dear friend. I was striving to do my best as a healthcare worker and parent during those troubling times but found the uncertainty and social isolation of the pandemic mentally exhausting. In the fall of that year, my life came to a halt when I was diagnosed with Cancer. It took a Cancer diagnosis for me to prioritize my own physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being. I was forced to slow down and cultivate a life that matters- creating memories with my daughter, living with kindness and authenticity, focusing on the little things with a sense of gratitude, and implementing self-care.

I am learning to live my life now after Cancer. I know what it is like to navigate feelings of fear, overwhelm, and lack of control. I also know what it is like to recover, rest and reclaim my life. I too have had to implement targeted lifestyle changes- the power of a positive mind, movement/exercise, quality sleep, an anti-Cancer diet, and stress management to create balance and prevent reoccurrence.

As a Cancer advocate and survivor, I bring knowledge, wisdom and compassion, empathy, and insight to my clients and their daily life. I would be honored to be your personal guide as you heal with hope during your Cancer journey. I would provide a strength-based partnership and hold space so we can find solutions based on your personal needs.
